About Product
Chorus is developing cutting-edge sensor technology, software, and machine learning tools to revolutionize the real-time understanding of where physical goods are, their condition, and how they are used.
Originally incubated as a Google X moonshot project, Chorus has since spun out as an independent company (April 2025) – one of the few moonshot projects to survive and scale to enterprise adoption.

The Problem
Supply chain operators across logistics, healthcare, and automotive sectors lacked real-time visibility into physical goods – their location, condition, and usage patterns.
The core challenge was data density: massive volumes of asset tracking data (trips, alerts, geofencing events) needed to be surfaced in a way that was visible, useful, and accessible to end users – from warehouse operators on rugged tablets to C-suite executives on desktop dashboards.
Why
Inventory blind spots cost the global supply chain industry billions annually. Healthcare facilities were renting duplicate equipment while identical units sat unused in other departments. Logistics companies couldn't provide end-to-end traceability from factory to store.
Every hour of shipment invisibility meant delayed routing decisions and compounding costs across the supply chain.

Approach
The engagement started with a dashboard exploration phase – designing multiple versions of data visualization to validate how complex supply chain metrics could be made accessible. We tested information density thresholds, layout patterns, and data hierarchy with real users before committing to the full product architecture.
Once validated, we moved to the full MVP build from scratch – designing the complete SaaS platform serving user needs across Asian and European markets.
Complexity
The hard part
Designing for extreme data complexity – assets, trips, multi-type alerts (temperature, geofencing, etc.) – while keeping the interface intuitive for users with vastly different technical literacy and device contexts.
Design System Scale
Deep variant structure covering multiple states and edge cases – built to serve multiple product teams and scale across new verticals.
Data challenge
Real-time IoT sensor and logistics data feeds all needed to coexist in a single coherent interface without overwhelming the user.
Business Impact
Business metrics are under NDA. Impact is measured through enterprise adoption trajectory and client feedback.

101M+
Kuehne+Nagel has partnered with Chorus and built a globally available smart label reader network, now comprising over 100 million network-enabled devices.
14
Chorus actively supports customers across 14 countries, bringing real-time location, condition, and inventory insights to logistics, healthcare, and pharma supply chains.
$50B+
More than $50 billion worth of cargo is lost across global supply chains every year - the critical visibility gap that Chorus, born from Google X, was built to close.
100K+
Partnering with Kuehne+Nagel and others since 2022, Chorus has helped track and manage hundreds of thousands of shipments and assets for customers around the world.
Feedback
Chorus is helping us give voice to each parcel.
Easy to use, innovative and communicative.
One lesson we all learned: design at this level can quite literally save lives.
The more we learn from those rollouts, the better we’re able to design and structure efficient supply chains.
Transforming the way we make, move, and manage the world’s goods.
